Visiting Tokyo DisneySea? These are Some Cute Merchandises You Will Regret Not Buying!

Theme parks are great fun to visit with your friends and loved ones. And you would probably wish that those good memories remain with you a long time after. What better way to do that than to get some memorabilia in the form of some cute merchandise from the theme park!

Visiting Tokyo DisneySea with my partner was an amazing experience and I wanted to remember those great times for a long time. So I got myself some of their merchandises. While buying them, I took into consideration whether they might serve a greater purpose in the longer term than just being decorative. Because really what is the point of getting something that is just going to collect dust in your home?

Well, in this post, I have written about some of the merch I bought from Tokyo DisneySea that I am still happily using months later. Hope they will help you in deciding what kind of merchandise you would like to purchase for yourself!

1. Printed Boxers

Toy Story's Alien and Aladdin's Genie (foreground) as well as Monsters, Inc.'s Sulley (background) boxers

Seven years ago when I visited Japan, I had bought a Pink Panther printed boxers from USJ and fell so hard in love with it that I thought I will buy a couple more should I ever return to the Japan's theme park. Incidentally, I saw some cute boxers at Tokyo DisneySea so obviously I just had to grab a few!

These boxers turned out to be super comfy and are perfect to wear at home as loungewear. Plus they look real adorable. Grab some for your male partner or relative. But honestly, even if you're a gurl and wear it, who is going to know?

Price: ¥1,900
Available where? Figaro's Clothiers, Agrabah Marketplace (for the genie shorts)

2. Nail Clippers

Winnie the Pooh nail clippers

No one likes trimming their nails. It's one of those boring tasks that you just have to do. So, why not buy a Winnie the Pooh nail clipper that at least looks cute and might bring a smile to your face while clipping your nails.

There are other cute designs for you to choose from like Mickie and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Green Alien, etc. Pick your favourite character and the next time you have to cut those pesky long nails of yours, maybe you will find you can smile through that lacklustre task after all.

Price: ¥1,400
Available where? Villa Donaldo Home Shop

3. Bamboo Ear Pick

Bobbing Alien head at the top of my ear pick!

Okay, maybe some of you have never used this handy little tool before. What can I say? I have ears full of wax so an ear pick comes in real handy once in awhile. And having Toy Story's Alien bobbing his head on the end of my ear pick just makes me happy on those days my ears feel like they need some cleansing.

Price: ¥1,300
Available where? Villa Donaldo Home Shop

4. Printed Face Mask

Face mask from the 'It's a Small World' collection

Face masks have become household essentials since the Covid-19 pandemic. Though things are beginning to settle now and mask-wearing requirements have eased in most places, it is still wise to have a couple of spare masks around that you can get your hands on when the need arises. What better masks to have than a colourful, printed Disney-themed mask!

The one I got is an exclusive 'It's a Small World' collection item, a cloth mask with adjustable ear hooks. There are Disney-character faces prints on these masks too for those of you who are more adventurous. Like this Simba mask...

Simba Cloth Face Mask

Price: ¥1,200

Available where? A number of shops; Got the 'It's a Small World' mask from the Villa Donaldo Home Shop

5. Printed Jacket

Can you spot Jasmine, Aladdin, Jafar, Abu or Genie on my Aladdin-themed Jacket?

I actually got my jacket seven years ago and am still using it to this day. It is in as great a shape even now as it was then. Looking at the prices of Disney's jackets these days, I am glad I bought mine for a relatively more reasonable price. Honestly, if the prices are too much for you, maybe consider getting a Shirt or T-shirt (see next item).

Price: ¥ 4,300 (7 years ago price)
Available where? Got this design from Agrabah Marketplace

6. Shirt/T-shirt

I know this seems like a pretty random picture when I am talking about Disney-themed merch but it proves my point that this is something we can make use of in daily living! Here, we used the shirt for our short day trip to Nara from Osaka.

The material is super soft and comfy! It does get wrinkled quite easily though so you might have to pack them more carefully if you plan to vacation with them like we did.

Price: ¥3,900
Available where? Most shops have a variety of designs; We got this Aloha shirt from Figaro's Clothiers

7. Green Alien Mochi

Chocolate, Strawberry and Custard-flavoured Mochi in a Cute Container

I know, I know. You are wondering how does this count as a merch for long-term use when you are just going to eat all the mochi on the spot. Well, I did devour all the mochi within a matter of minutes but you see the container in which the mochi is contained? Yup, the one with Toy Story printed on it.

That container definitely served me a much longer purpose that just holding those mochi! Flying back home with me, that Toy Story container now occupies an honorary position on my work desk as a storage container for any odd bits of stationery I have lying around.

Go crazy, think creative! You could use it to contain your stationeries or candies or hair accessories. Really, just about anything that might fit in there!

Price: ¥400
Available where? One of the outdoor stands. I got mine near the Indiana Jones ride.

8. Hairbands with Mickey/Minnie Ears

Us with our Mickey and Minnie Ears (and other l)!

Okay, so you are probably not going to find much use for these in your everyday life. Admittedly I don't. Why did I put these in then? Well, because you can use them for all your future Disneyland visits!

I bought mine from Paris Disneyland nine years ago and have used them twice in Tokyo DisneySea and further plan to use them when I visit my next Disneyland theme park. Come now, don't tell me the idea of wearing Mickey ears don't tempt you!

Price: ¥1,500 (for the Mickey one)
Available where? Almost anywhere in the park - the outdoor stands or indoor shops. Got this from Figaro's Clothiers

** I hope this has helped you get an idea of what you might consider buying when visiting Tokyo DisneySea. Do drop me a comment if you have more questions otherwise, I wish you a great time at the theme park!

NUS's IS5008, IS5111 and IS5128 Reviews - Master of Computing (Information Systems) Modules

Having just completed my first year of Master of Computing, specialising in Information Systems, I feel like I badly need this upcoming summer break to 'recuperate' before embarking on my next year of study. It hasn't been completely easy to jump into computing from having hardly any background at all (taking the IS specialisation does make it easier though).  Anyway I am halfway into the journey and damn glad for it! For those who are making the jump like me, have faith that you can make it. And maybe I will see you some time in some module.. Before I immerse completely in my break though, I thought I should do a review of all the three modules that I took within this semester. They have all been IS modules but I do hope I will at least find the courage to do a CS module within the next year. **Fingers Crossed**   UPDATE : I did end up doing one CS module - CS5228 so you could also check out that review, link in next paragraph. In this post, I will cover my  Year 1, Semest

NUS's IS5005 and IS5009 Reviews - Master of Computing (Information Systems) Modules

With a new academic year fast approaching within the next few months, I thought I better get my Semester 1 modules review out before taking a well-deserved break from modules and study. Afterall, it feels like quite a feat to have completed my first year in Master of Computing, specialising in Information Systems, which hasn't been easy considering my jump into computing from having hardly any background at all. But enough about me and on to the reviews. In this post, I will cover my Year 1, Semester 1 modules - IS5005 and IS5009 whereas other posts will cover my Year 1, Semester 2 modules - IS5008, IS5111 and IS5128  ,   Year 2, Semester 1 modules - CS5228, IS5116 and IS5151  and Year 2, Semester 2 modules - IS5002 and IS5004 . So do check them out too. Alternatively, you could also check out my post on some tips to do well in your part-time Masters ! And now for the Year 1, Semester 1 modules which might be some of your choice picks for the upcoming year.... IS5005 - Digital En

NUS's CS5228, IS5116 and IS5151 Reviews - Master of Computing Modules

So the first semester of my second year of Master of Computing, specialising in Information Systems, was for lack of a better word, NIGHTMARISH. Somehow I chose modules that were somewhat heavy and on top of that, had to content with a job change right in the middle of the semester! But all things eventually come to an end, even nightmarish semesters. All is well that ends well as they say. In this post, I will cover my  Year 2, Semester 2 modules  - CS5228, IS5116 and IS5151 in the hopes that it will help all of you with your own planning and scheduling for the semester. This semester also marks me undertaking my first CS module (and probably the last one). There are just too many IS modules I am interested in doing and will probably do those. For reviews on the other IS modules I took, do check out those posts here -  Year 1, Semester 1 modules - IS5005 and IS5009  ,  Year 1, Semester 2 modules - IS5008, IS5111 and IS5128  and Year 2, Semester 2 modules - IS5002 and IS5004 .
