NUS's MComp Modules Posts

Happy New Year all!

Another year has come and gone. It is amazing how quickly the year passes. Someone once told me that the days pass slowly but the years go by so fast. Today I feel that thought reverberating through me with me internally howling for time to slow down.

But what can we do. Time is not going to slow down so we have to decide how much we want to make use of it. Sure, we all have our lows and downtime and burnouts but ultimately we need to decide what is important and what to fit into the limited time that we have. New Year Resolutions are definitely in the making for me!

Just wanted to give a quick update on my new post covering my review of another three NUS Masters of Computing module - CS5228, IS5116 and IS5151 reviews. This year has been super hectic with most of my time spent on working on my Masters, which could explain my lack of writing or maybe I am just making excuses. See how 2021 has gone by with me only working on four articles. Guess I have found my first New Year's Resolution after all - Write More! Hope you find some important ones of your own. Once again, have a great New Year and make it count...

Hello World!

It has been over a year since I last wrote something on this page and I can't believe where all those time went. The world as we know it has seen some of the strangest times it had since decades before. Masks are now a part of daily lives. Countries have gone into 2, 3, 4 or countless numbers of lockdowns. Yet the situation still seems as bleak as ever.

I don't know when most of us can travel again, which is making it difficult for me to want to write any more travel posts. Because honestly, it is just depressing. But then, this is THE time when I and maybe even you need some REMINDER of what life was before the past year of hell we have been through! Which is why I am going to push forth and churn out my 4 Days in Belgium post! Please be patient though because that is going to take lots of grit and determination on my end! And do read the post once it is out.

Meanwhile during the past year I have been trying to pick up some new knowledge and skills. Been doing my Master of Computing at NUS and it has been quite the journey, to be sure. Challenging is quite the understatement but I am so GLAD I am on that journey! It has been one year and two semesters in and I am really relishing the semester break before it all begins again.

Before I truly recharged though, I decided to write a review on the modules that I have completed. Because what do you know, it was tough to get any kind of information on them when I was trying to decide which modules to do. So here is to helping my fellow school mates/junior in picking their own modules in the Information Systems specialisation. Do read IS5005 and IS5009 reviews as well as IS5008, IS5111 and IS5128 reviews if you are planning to take any of these modules. You could also contact me if you have additional questions. So take care and we will meet again real soon!

Can't believe half of 2020 has already flown by. What did I spend all those time doing? Can't say I know for sure. The Covid-19 situation has made the world seem to move along at a sluggish pace but again the age-old adage comes to mind "Time waits for no man". Not even for a billion of them.

While I was slugging away, I occupied myself with one of my favorite movie genres, Mystery/Thrillers. They provide me with puzzles to solve while making it exciting at the same time. If you love this genre or are game to try them, do read 10 Mystery/Thrillers That You Shouldn't Miss. And while those 10 impressed, these 4 Disappointing Mystery/Thrillers didn't.

I hope those reads will help you discover some great movies that will get you through this difficult period. I know they certainly helped me. 'Til we meet again...

After a gruelling 2 weeks of reminiscing into my Korea trip together with hours of re-research, I have all 3 of my Korea post out. It was a wonderful journey for me, recounting the 9 days we had spent there in September 2018. Such a long time ago but as I was browsing the pictures, it surely felt as though the trip just happened.

I will always remember Korea as the country that opened up a whole different world of culinary experience for me. I usually don't much care about the food I eat within the countries I visit but when in Korea, it would be a big mistake not to. I hope my posts will encourage you to try their fantastic cuisine in addition to having a great cultural experience.

So here are my Korea posts...

I have ALL my Greece post out! Since it is a very long post, I have divided them into 3 parts. You could start off with  Spending 8 Days in Greece Part 1 followed by either Spending 8 Days in Greece Part 2 or Travelling the Greek Islands by Ferries.

I hope you will find the posts useful in planning your very own Greece vacation. I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed my time in Greece. May your trip be as enjoyable as mine was!

26th May 2020

Seems like I have been quite busy watching and then writing about movies the past week. Wes Anderson is probably one of the directors whose work I frequently watch out for. I know his new movie The French Dispatch is coming out soon and I honestly can't wait to watch it!

While reminiscing about his movies, I got out 2 posts, Wes Anderson's Movies Ranked and Some Common Features of All His Films. I had a great time writing them and reconnecting with those films. I hope you guys will enjoy reading them!

But if Wes Anderson's movies are not your kind of thing, maybe you could explore the Japanese Zombie/Horror One Cut of the Dead. I have written my thoughts on the movie, which I enjoyed tremendously as well!

The next time I hope to publish my Greece post. Got a little sidetracked with my other passion (movies!) this month. Plus with the current situation, travelling or even planning for travels is rather hard to do at the moment. A true bummer.

But we all gotta stay safe, I guess. Take care and see you next time!

18th May 2020

Hi Everyone!

Feels like a long time since I was here. The world seems to have changed so much since that time. But I am back now and rather than another post on my travels, I thought I could keep that for later since most of us can't travel at the moment anyway.

Being holed up at home, I have needed to watch movies to bring me some entertainment and I hope they bring you some joy and entertainment as well in these bleak times.

I have made 2 list of movies - Top 10 Feel Good Movies and 15 Great Action Movies. I hope these movies will cheer you up as they have me!

Happy reading and I will be back for more! Stay safe! Until we meet again...

26th Feb 2020

I recently watched the Best Picture of Oscar 2020 - Parasite and felt like I had to write about it. Amazingly it didn't take too long to write it up compared to how slow I am with some of my other articles.

But even so, I still consider my Thoughts on Parasite Movie post to be a work-in-progress. Somehow it still feels like an unfinished work. So many brilliant insights can be drawn from the film and I just might have to update the article at some point. But for now please do read the post. 'Til we meet again...

Hi Everyone!

Hope you are all doing well and in the mood for some reading. Because I have finally put together my 4 Days in Cambodia post and I am very excited to share it with you. Hope you feel inspired by it and possibly get started on planning your next vacation to this wonderful country!

'Til the next time we meet for my as-of-yet-still-pending Greece post!

7th Jan 2020

Happy New Year everyone!! 2020 is here and I hope it will be a wonderful year for all filled with lots of love, awesome experiences and good health.

Can't believe I finally have my first post out! It has taken a much longer time than I expected. Apparently while my love for travel is immense, I can't say the same of my love for writing. That is slightly lacking as of now. But I sure hope it will pick up speed and vigour as we go along.

NEXT UP, my trip to Cambodia which I embarked on this recent December which was a thoroughly amazing cultural trip. Truly learnt so much while I was there!

There are a lot more trips I have to quickly write about for you people, like the one to Greece that took place close to a year and a half ago. YES, that is how long it has been pending for! I will do my best to hurry that along so that you may do your own summer planning for... I don't know... maybe a vacay in Greece. Yay!

So off you go to read about my 3 Days Bintan Adventures or my review of M Night Shyamalam's Glass, which took me awhile to get started on also (why am I not surprised!!!) while I attempt to revisit my wonderful trip and pen it down into a post. 'Til we meet again... (Very soon i hope)

NUS's IS5008, IS5111 and IS5128 Reviews - Master of Computing (Information Systems) Modules

Having just completed my first year of Master of Computing, specialising in Information Systems, I feel like I badly need this upcoming summer break to 'recuperate' before embarking on my next year of study. It hasn't been completely easy to jump into computing from having hardly any background at all (taking the IS specialisation does make it easier though).  Anyway I am halfway into the journey and damn glad for it! For those who are making the jump like me, have faith that you can make it. And maybe I will see you some time in some module.. Before I immerse completely in my break though, I thought I should do a review of all the three modules that I took within this semester. They have all been IS modules but I do hope I will at least find the courage to do a CS module within the next year. **Fingers Crossed**   UPDATE : I did end up doing one CS module - CS5228 so you could also check out that review, link in next paragraph. In this post, I will cover my  Year 1, Semest

NUS's IS5005 and IS5009 Reviews - Master of Computing (Information Systems) Modules

With a new academic year fast approaching within the next few months, I thought I better get my Semester 1 modules review out before taking a well-deserved break from modules and study. Afterall, it feels like quite a feat to have completed my first year in Master of Computing, specialising in Information Systems, which hasn't been easy considering my jump into computing from having hardly any background at all. But enough about me and on to the reviews. In this post, I will cover my Year 1, Semester 1 modules - IS5005 and IS5009 whereas other posts will cover my Year 1, Semester 2 modules - IS5008, IS5111 and IS5128  ,   Year 2, Semester 1 modules - CS5228, IS5116 and IS5151  and Year 2, Semester 2 modules - IS5002 and IS5004 . So do check them out too. Alternatively, you could also check out my post on some tips to do well in your part-time Masters ! And now for the Year 1, Semester 1 modules which might be some of your choice picks for the upcoming year.... IS5005 - Digital En

NUS's CS5228, IS5116 and IS5151 Reviews - Master of Computing Modules

So the first semester of my second year of Master of Computing, specialising in Information Systems, was for lack of a better word, NIGHTMARISH. Somehow I chose modules that were somewhat heavy and on top of that, had to content with a job change right in the middle of the semester! But all things eventually come to an end, even nightmarish semesters. All is well that ends well as they say. In this post, I will cover my  Year 2, Semester 2 modules  - CS5228, IS5116 and IS5151 in the hopes that it will help all of you with your own planning and scheduling for the semester. This semester also marks me undertaking my first CS module (and probably the last one). There are just too many IS modules I am interested in doing and will probably do those. For reviews on the other IS modules I took, do check out those posts here -  Year 1, Semester 1 modules - IS5005 and IS5009  ,  Year 1, Semester 2 modules - IS5008, IS5111 and IS5128  and Year 2, Semester 2 modules - IS5002 and IS5004 .
